How Kids Think Now....

As I started reading "Alone Together", I found certain topics that kinda caught my attention. The one that caught my most attention was " A ten-year old girl told me that she would prefer a robot turtle because aliveness comes with aesthtic inconvenience". (pg 4)  When I was little and even still now I love animals, and always use to think "why cant these animals be real" when I went to a museum or theme park. This just showed me how much the different generations think now. Kids think greater things will come out of technology instead of reality.

  1. I found this story in the book so interesting too! It was crazy to me how these kids didn't understand how truly amazing it would be to see those live turtles, and how much history came with them. I really hope as this generation grows older, we will begin to understand how truly stupid and ungrateful we were for all the great things we were surrounded by.

  2. I agree with the statement said why cant the animals be real. My sister had a collection of stuffed animals, I remember she would always say: why cant these be real? In the book, the kids were easily entertained by robotic dogs and toys and what they did but are not real. Rather the kids should be more focused on appreciating things in life that are real, not fake.

  3. It was the same for me, kids want to see more action. The fake crocodile seems more realistic to a child because they're used to what they see in cartoons and movies. They don't want to look at a turtle sitting still in a cage, they want to see one that is moving around and being more lifelike. They fail to realize that what is portrayed on the tv as lifelike really isn't lifelike, but designed for entertainment.
